School Garden

School gardens are a great way to introduce children to the world of plants while connecting to a diverse set of curriculm objectives, including science, math, art, literacy.

What is Garden Coaching?

Why I Chose to offer Garden Coaching Services

I decided to be a Garden Coach as a way to share my love of gardening with others. I have been a gardener for over 20 years, including community and home gardening. For 15 years I worked at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a 52 acre public garden in New York City. As part of the Education Dept., I taught many gardening courses and have a Horticulture Certificate from Brooklyn Botanic Garden. In Winston-Salem I have coordinated the Betty and Jim Holmes Food Bank Garden where we grow vegetables and melons for Second Harvest Food Bank.

Garden Coaching Services

I can offer the following services:

Site analysis (includes plant identification, condition of plants, directions where plantings are appropriate to growing conditions)
Recommending what to plant and where to get it
Pruning techniques
How to select tools Nursery and contractor references
Shop with you for plants, soil, tools, etc.
Small drawing designs for planting beds
Cost: $45 per site visit.
